At St. Ethelbert’s, our mission is deeply rooted in our Catholic faith and our commitment to nurturing the holistic development of each child. Inspired by our Mission Statement, “Love learning as friends; care for our community as neighbours; share our faith in Jesus as disciples”, we strive to create a loving and supportive environment where every student feels valued and empowered to grow in faith, knowledge, and character.

Our Catholic life is the cornerstone of our school community – it is what we are. Daily prayers; the celebration of holy mass; and Religious Education are integral parts of our provision, providing children with the opportunity to deepen their relationship with God and live out their faith in their everyday lives. We encourage our children to embrace the teachings of Jesus Christ, fostering a spirit of compassion, kindness, and respect for others.

St. Ethelbert’s is dedicated to nurturing the hearts of our children by promoting a sense of belonging and community.  Our school is proud to be fully inclusive, celebrating our rich diversity. Our children come from a range of faith and cultural  traditions – all are welcomed, valued and treated with respect.

Our GIFT Team, Caritas Ambassadors and our Laudato Si’ group lead their peers in living out our mission. Through various projects and our involvement with organisations such as CAFOD & Caritas Salford, we instil in our children the importance of working for social justice and encourage all children to be active, caring members of society, working for the common good at a local, national and global level. This is lived out in our charitable works and through our curriculum, where aspects of Catholic Social Teaching are well embedded.

Our Catholic Life & Mission are underpinned by highly positive relationships between pupils, staff, governors and parents.  Staff at all levels are deeply committed to supporting our most vulnerable pupils and their families, both emotionally and practically. We have strong links with our parish, working together to develop the spirituality of our community and to help those in need.

Each half term, we are proud to commend a deserving member of our community with the ‘Caritas Social Teaching Award’. This award is designed to recognise exemplary efforts in embodying compassion and love in action, highlighting outstanding contributions. The award may be given to an individual; a group; a class or even the whole school!

As Bishop John once said, “The measure of our love is not the service we render but the love we put into it.” ‘Caritas in Action’ is a testament to the values which are important in the Salford Diocese, serving as a response to the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.

Our Climate Action Plan is rooted in Laudato Si’ and Catholic Social Teaching, showing our commitment to caring for our Common Home as part of our faith in action. Leaders, governors, staff, and pupils work together to live out the Gospel through sustainability and stewardship. We live out our Catholic mission by caring for creation, serving the common good, and putting our faith into action for the future of all God’s children.
