Welcome to St. Ethelbert’s RC Primary School, a Voluntary Academy

A warm welcome to St. Ethelbert’s Roman Catholic Primary School, a proud member of the St. Teresa of Calcutta Academy Trust. Thank you for visiting our website, where you may begin to discover what makes our school such a special place. We are one-form entry primary school, with a Nursery for three year olds.

At St. Ethelbert’s, we make every effort to ensure that our children feel safe and secure. Our school is a happy, nurturing place to be and safeguarding our children is our highest priority.

In line with our Mission Statement, we encourage all children to ‘Love learning as friends’, through our engaging curriculum; we aim that our children will be aspirational and that they will become enthusiastic, independent, lifelong learners. We provide a wide range of opportunities to enrich and enhance our curriculum, including the use of educational visits and visitors into school to engage learners, as well as before and after-school clubs.

Our children and staff are provided with a range of opportunities to help them ‘Care for our community as neighbours’. We are a school at the very heart of our diverse community, with nearly thirty languages on roll. We have a strong partnership with our families, our parish of Christ the Redeemer and with our wider community.

As a Catholic school, our faith is central to all that we do. Our Mission Statement states that we’ Share our faith in Jesus as disciples’. Therefore, on a daily basis, we strive to live out the values of Jesus Christ, showing friendship, compassion, generosity, empathy and tolerance to all those we meet. We promote these values through our acts of worship and through our words, actions and relationships. We are a highly inclusive school and our fundamental belief is that each child is unique and made in the image of God. We show mutual respect and tolerance to those of different faiths and those without a faith.

St. Ethelbert’s is blessed to have a skilled staff team, who go the extra mile for our children. They are committed to making a positive difference to the lives of our families.
